This week in Coral Springs: Here’s your guide to what’s happening around town

Golf and tennis enthusiasts are in for a busy week in town, with multiple opportunities to improve skills with fellow players.

Health and wellness are also a highlight in Coral Springs this week, with opportunities for seniors, caregivers, those facing diabetes or breast cancer, and more.

There are also plenty of opportunities for kids and teens, including fitness classes, a free college essay workshop and a number of reading and early literacy opportunities.

Here’s what’s happening Oct. 10-13:

All week

After-school hangout for teens in the Northwest Regional Library living room (2:40-4 p.m.)

Take-and-make Halloween craft at the Northwest Regional Library, available during all open hours.

Monday

Advanced English café (10:30 a.m.-noon)

This online workshop is a space for residents to practice advanced level reading and conversational English with library volunteers. Registration is required, with details on the Broward County Public Library website here.

Five Wishes living will workshop (11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.)

Topics such as death and end-of-life-care can be difficult to think about — but this workshop aims to make them more approachable. Through the Five Wishes platform, participants address concerns, let family and friends know what kind of medical treatment you do or don’t want, and what you want your loved ones to know. Circuit training for kids (5-6 p.m.)

For $25, school-age kids get an hour of high-intensity exercise designed to build confidence. Learn more and register on Meetup or via the Fitwize4Kids website.

Intermediate English café (5:30-6:30 p.m.)

The same event as in the morning, but for intermediate-level English speakers. RSVP here.

Karaoke at Amo Pizzeria (6-9 p.m.)

Belt out your favorite tunes at this weekly event, hosted by Trish McKibbin of Fire and Ice Productions. Details are on Facebook here.

Medicare 101 (6:30-7:30 p.m.)

Head to Northwest Regional Library room 223 for a free workshop on Medicare health plan options with Mediclarity.

Texas Hold ‘Em tournament at Buffalo Wild Wings (6:30 p.m.-midnight)

Players of all levels are welcome at this weekly poker tournament with the motto, “Come for the Poker, Stay for the Friendships.” Learn more on the event’s Facebook page.

Floral cake decorating class (7 p.m.)

Join professional pastry chef Miranda Whitaker at Eddie and Vinny’s Coastal Italian for a paint ‘n sip style class — but in this case, your masterpiece is edible! Tickets are $75 per person and can be purchased via OpenTable here.

Tuesday

Free morning yoga class (8:30-9 a.m.)

This online beginner-friendly yoga class from the Broward County Public Library focuses on flexibility and strength. Learn more and get the Zoom link on the event page here.

Hot Topics conversation group (11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.)

Adults ages 50 and over are invited to Northwest Regional Library living room for coffee, cookies and conversation. Registration is required.

Intermediate English café (4-5:30 p.m.)

College essay review workshop (4:30-5:30 p.m.)

Nine and Wine women’s golf meetup (4:30-7 p.m.)

Play and Learn for ages 3 to 5 (5-6 p.m.)

Wednesday

Coral Springs senior health fair (9 a.m.-noon)

Visit the Coral Springs Gymnasium for free health screenings, wellness advice, refreshments and vendors. All are welcome to attend. Learn more on the city’s events page here.

Fire safety workshop (11 a.m.-noon)

Head to Northwest Regional Library to learn about fire safety and prevention in the home with the Coral Springs-Parkland Fire Department. Register online here.

How to access free ebooks, audiobooks and magazines with Libby (1-2:30 p.m.)

Did you know that the Broward County Public Library has hundreds of thousands of online materials for residents to enjoy? Learn about Libby, the app for accessing it all, at this in-person workshop hosted by the Northwest Regional Library.

Senior women’s social lunch (1-3 p.m.)

Meet new friends from around Northwest Broward while enjoying an afternoon meal! This week’s event will be at El Paso Restaurant on 8130 Wiles Road. Seats are limited — cure your spot on Meetup.

Alzheimer’s caregiver support group (2-3:15 p.m.)

Join residents at the Northwest Regional Library to share experiences, receive emotional support, and gain practical advice as you navigate the challenges, celebrate the small victories and foster resilience in the caregiving journey. Seats are limited — learn more and register here.

Warhammer open play (4 p.m.-2 a.m.)

Guildhall Anime Game Lounge will host its weekly meetup for Warhammer enthusiasts from open to close while serving up food, drinks and game opportunities for players at all levels. Learn more on Meetup.

Early readers book club (4:30-5:30 p.m.)

The Northwest Regional Library’s monthly book club for students K-3 is designed to encourage reading. Kids can discuss their book of choice and engage in an activity such as trivia, comic making, crossword or craft. Seats are limited — RSVP here.

Boxing for kids (5-6 p.m.)

Women’s golf clinic (5:30-6:30 p.m.)

Play the Colony West Golf Club course with instructor Sunmin Lee, who will assist new golfers with with club selection, course strategy, etiquette, rules and tips to keep a good pace of play. Spotting scams and misinformation in the A.I. age (6-7:30 p.m.)

This online workshop from Broward County Public Library specialist Justin Prather will teach participants how to find telltale signs of A.I. scams and how to avoid them. Register online to get the meeting link.

Craft Corner at Coral Springs Museum of Art (6-8 p.m.)

Creatives of all stripes are invited to this monthly meetup where crafters can explore new techniques, make something beautiful, and connect with fellow makers in a relaxed, welcoming space. This month’s session will focus on charms and pendants.

Thursday

Beginner and intermediate English café (4-5:45 p.m.)

These free classes at the Northwest Regional Library consist of conversation, vocabulary, games and pronunciation. The beginner-friendly session runs from 4-5:30 p.m. and the more advanced group meets from 5-5:45 p.m.

Chip and Sip women’s golf practice and coaching (5:30-6:30 p.m.)

Beginner and experienced golfers are invited to improve their swings with pro guidance at Colony West Golf Club. Plus, join the group at The View Restaurant afterwards for social hour drinks. Diabetes prevention and management class (6-7 p.m.)

This virtual session will be presented by a team of professionals and pre-professionals through the Interprofessional Diabetes Education and Awareness (IDEA) Initiative at Nova Southeastern University. RSVP through the Broward County Public Library here.

Indoor golf with Commissioner Joe McHugh (6-8 p.m.)

Head to 4Majors Indoor Golf on 9701 W Sample Road to play a few rounds of golf with neighbors and elected officials. Bring your own clubs, or borrow a set from the facility. Signup is free, but spots are limited — get more information via Coral Springs Let’s Move.

Live music at Sharkey’s Bar and Grill (7-10 p.m.)
