Fall festivals, fitness events, fundraisers fill Coral Springs weekend calendar
Fitness and fall are both in full force this weekend in Coral Springs, with a variety of Halloween parties and festivals to choose from.
It also includes back-to-back fundraisers for local high school theater programs, hands-on museum events for families, and new offerings for niche interest groups such as anime and the occult.
Plus, catch returning events to get your body moving, from live music and dance to martial arts, pickleball and more.
Here’s what happening around town Oct. 24-26:
Multiple days
Patrón Azteca anniversary weekend
The local Tex-Mex restaurant is celebrating its 10-year anniversary with a live DJ on Friday, karaoke on Saturday and a live mariachi band on Sunday. Food and drink specials will also be available. Learn more on Facebook and patronazteca.com.
Paddle Tap Pickleball tournament
This Saturday and Sunday, pickleball enthusiasts have the opportunity to win big at the Country Club of Coral Springs. Marches run from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with players competing for an estimated $11,500 prize pool.

Friday
Monkey Joe’s Halloween Party (6 to 9 p.m.)
Kids 12 and younger are invited to the Coral Springs indoor trampoline park for a costume party, parade and candy giveaway. Regular admission ($15 per child, adults free) applies.
MSD Drama Haunted Maze preview night (8 to 10 p.m.)
Step into the shadows before the crowds arrive for the highly anticipated Falloween festival, presented by the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Drama, Astronomy and Garden clubs. Wander through twisting paths, eerie scenes and unexpected scares, plus optional guided stargazing with the school’s astronomy club.
The event will be held at the high school, 5901 Pine Island Road in Parkland, with attendees encouraged to park and enter on Holmberg Road. Tickets are available online for $6.
Saturday
J.P. Taravella High School Drama yard and craft sale (8 a.m. to noon)
The high school’s annual fundraiser is back, located on the southeast corner of Riverside Drive and Coral Springs Drive. According to the event flyer and Facebook, it will go on rain or shine.

Leaders in the Making: Thriving in High School and Beyond (10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.)
The Northwest Regional Library will host Project Leadership in the multipurpose room. Register online here.
Learn about local businesses at the Coral Springs History Museum (11 a.m. to 2 p.m.)
From noon to 1 p.m., join museum staff for a conversation with former City Commissioner and long-time business owner Joy Carter, exploring how local businesses helped shape the city’s early years — and how they’re influencing its future.

Free youth sports EKG screenings (11 a.m. to 2 p.m.)
Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, in partnership with Who We Play For, is offering free, noninvasive heart scans to groups of young people ages 10-21 who participate in local school and community athletics. The scan can detect potential problems in active children and young athletes, using a series of electrodes on the chest to measure electrical activity of the heart.

Family Day at Coral Springs Museum of Art (noon to 4 p.m.)
Be among the first to see the museum’s latest exhibit, “Transitions,” and register for recently announced art classes at this free event. Plus, check out themed activities at the city mainstay, including a seasonal story time, take-home art project, custom face painting, a community toy exchange and pop-up shop from Jay’s Bookstore.

Halloween mini-con at Guildhall Anime Lounge (4 p.m. to midnight)
Celebrate spooky season with a full night of cosplay, gaming and themed treats. Guildhall will be transformed into a haunted haven for gamers and anime fans alike — packed with activities, contests, and surprises around every corner.

Wendy’s Bam Ale launch party (5 p.m.)
In addition to its regular live music performances, Sharkey’s Bar and Grill is set to host a launch party for one of Broward’s newest beers, made with an ingredient you might not expect — bamboo.

Uncorked: Paint ‘n Sip (5 to 7 p.m.)
Get expert instruction from a teaching artist while sipping on beer, wine and other assorted beverages at the Coral Springs Museum of Art. Tickets are $20 for members and $30 for non-members, and include all supplies needed for the painting. Learn more and get tickets online here.
MSD Drama Falloween (5 to 8 p.m.)
Get ready for a night of thrills, treats, and theatrical fun at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Drama Club’s biggest fundraiser of the year. The evening will feature a spooky maze, petting zoo, trunk-or-treating, and performances by Broadway Bound Academy.

Fire Department breast cancer awareness pasta dinner (5 to 9 p.m.)
Savor homemade sauces and meatballs at the annual Coral Springs Fire Department fundraiser, with proceeds supporting the University of Miami Firefighter Cancer Initiative and the Coral Springs Professional Firefighters Benevolent Association.
Dinner will be served in Coral Springs Fire Station #80, located at 2825 Coral Springs Dr. Admission is $8 per plate, which includes pasta, meatballs, bread and a beverage. Purchase tickets online or at the door.
Halloween Night Market at Corellia Gifts and Goods (6 to 11 p.m.)
Get spooky with this local business’ after-hours market full of occult, cozy and Halloween goodies. Shop curated vendors, sip seasonal alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, get your cards read, and snag raffle prizes. Costumes are highly encouraged.

Haunted Illusions at Coral Springs Center for the Arts (7 p.m.)
Master illusionist David Caserta takes the stage with original tricks and plenty of laughs for the whole family as the “America’s Got Talent” star makes his asssitants levitate, disappear and reappear.
Tickets range from $61 to $93, but residents can get a second ticket half off with the promo code BOO50, according to the Center’s ticketing website.
Halloween fun at Larry’s Ice Cream (7 to 9 p.m.)
Face painting, balloons, games, a bounce house, and of course a wide selection of Halloween treats will be available at Larry’s, a local staple and historical landmark. Learn more on Facebook.

UFar pet costume contest and adoption event (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.)
Pawmper Fluffy is set to host North Lauderdale-based UFar Animal Rescue for an afternoon fit for any animal lover. Enjoy a pet costume contest, live music, trick-or-treat and activities for kids, and meet cats and dogs who who are seeking their forever homes.

We Rock the Spectrum Halloween Bash (2 to 5 p.m.)
