The week is set to open with celebrations for veterans — especially Marines, who mark their branch’s 250th birthday this year.

Curious residents have a wealth of options later in the week, with seminars and tours surrounding topics such as gardening, recycling, self-defense and nutrition.

Here’s what scheduled from Monday, Nov. 10, through Thursday, Nov. 13, in Coral Springs:

Monday

Marine Corps 250th birthday celebration at Sharkey’s (6 p.m.)

Head to the local veteran-owned watering hole for a commemorative gun raffle, live reading of the Commandant Message to the troops, cake cutting ceremony and other festivities. Plus, meet fellow Marines and get connected with leaders from the Barracks Legend Foundation and Tamarac Marine Corps League. Learn more and RSVP on Facebook here.

Doro Pesch album release party (7 to 9:15 p.m.)

Tuesday

Coral Springs Veterans Day ceremony (10:45 a.m.)

Join the Veterans Coalition of Coral Springs and the City of Coral Springs to honor those who have served the U.S. in the armed forces. Retired U.S. Marine Corps. Lance Corporal Richard “Richie” Kushner will be the morning’s featured speaker. The event will take place at Veterans Park. If it rains, the ceremony will move to the Coral Springs Gymnasium. Foundations and grants workshop (Noon to 12:30 p.m.)

Learn how to use search tool Candid to find new sources of nonprofit funding for whatever project you’re working on. Registration is required to access the Zoom meeting. Learn more and sign up on the Broward County Public Library events page here.

Wednesday

Water Control District meeting (6:30 to 7:30 p.m.)

Residents with questions or concerns about Coral Springs’ water treatment — including costs and environmental issues — can take part in public comment at the governing body’s monthly meeting, located at Sartory Hall Senior Center in Mullins Park.

Thursday

Hurricane Grill & Wings restaurant, bar, décor auction (11:30 a.m.)

Snag a deal on this recently closed restaurant’s 80-inch TVs, bar and kitchen equipment, plus unique surfboard-style seating, tables and neon lights. Check it out online or call 954-297-5876 for more information.

Solid Waste Authority tour with Coral Springs Garden Club (1 to 3:30 p.m.)

Diabetes and healthy eating seminar (6 to 7 p.m.)

Learn strategies to help support you or a loved one in preventing or managing diabetes with the Interprofessional Diabetes Education and Awareness (IDEA) Initiative at Nova Southeastern University. This is an online-only event — register on the Broward County Libraries website here.

S.A.F.E. free self-defense class (6 to 8 p.m.)

Learn strategies for violence prevention and fending off attackers with this two-hour workshop for teens and women ages 13 and older. Participants are required to complete and submit a safety form before being registered for the course. More information is available on the City of Coral Springs website here.

Coral Springs City Commission meeting (6:30 to 11 p.m.)

City commissioners meet twice a month to vote on topics impacting residents’ everyday lives, from e-bike regulations to mural designs and more. Residents are able to testify live and in-person about issues important to them after filling out a short form for the City Clerk. Interested parties can attend the meeting, or stream via CityTV. Live Q&A with “The Berry Pickers” author (7 to 8 p.m.)
