Whether you’re looking to engage with creativity, fitness, learning, or just want to let loose, there’s something for you to do in town.

Local nonprofits are also seeking support this week, with games and shopping events benefiting Broward-based breast cancer research and school safety initiatives.

Women’s self-defense (5:30 to 7:30 p.m.)

The Coral Springs Police Department is back with another class for women ages 13 and older to learn . While the session is currently full, the waitlist is still open. Learn more via the city website or library events page.

Learn to use the Silhouette Cameo (5 to 6 p.m.)

America’s failed response to the opioid crisis (2 to 3 p.m.)

Award-winning writers Shoshana Walter and Barbara Kingsolver will discuss “Rehab: An American Scandal,” Walter’s book exposing “the country’s failed response to the opioid crisis, and the malfeasance, corruption and snake oil which blight the drug rehabilitation industry.” Register to attend online via the Broward County Libraries webpage.

City Commission meeting (6:30 p.m.)

Coral Springs’ City Commission will meet at City Hall to discuss matters impacting residents and businesses. According to the evening’s public agenda, officials will acknowledge holidays, standout school and city staff, and make decisions on topics like rezoning and spending.

Mahjong fundraiser for breast cancer research (6:30 to 9:30 p.m.)

Congregation Kol Tikvah will host an evening of games, shopping, dining and drinks benefiting Not My Daughter, a nonprofit raising awareness and funding for breast cancer research and patient support. Safe Schools for Alex annual pickleball fundraiser (5 p.m.)

Support nationwide school safety initiatives while engaging in friendly competition at Diadem Pickleball Complex in Coconut Creek with this event. Proceeds from the tournament will benefit the nonprofit’s mission to “provide the most current school safety best practices and resources to students, parents, school districts, and law enforcement so that all children can learn in a safe environment” in the wake of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School tragedy.

Scott Walkers Happy Hour Social (5 to 10 p.m.)
