Six Coral Springs restaurants hit with high-priority violations, inspectors say
No Coral Springs restaurants have faced a shutdown or required a follow-up inspection since Dec. 10, but several local eateries racked up high-priority violations that could put customers at risk if found to be repeat issues.
Here’s a recap:
During a Dec. 10 inspection, Marco’s Top Burgers (4320 N. State Road 7) received 12 total violations, including two high-priority infractions. These included multiple citations for improper cooling of black beans, which risked contamination and foodborne illness. Inspectors also noted a can opener blade dirtied with food debris and slime, issues with the handwashing station.
Inspectors handed Donde Yubra (2049 N. University Drive) three high-priority, one intermediate and five basic violations during their visit on Dec. 10. Problems included poor sanitation of dishes and other equipment, as well as improper handling and storage of perishable food items.
Antojitos Esmerelda (7804 Wiles Road) was handed six violations during a Dec. 12 inspection, including two high-priority infractions. Inspectors noted improper storage of raw whole shell eggs stored over ready to eat sauces and observed an employee cracking raw shell eggs, then handling a customer’s plate without washing their hands.
El Mariachi (4625 University Drive) received two high-priority violations during its inspection on Dec. 15. Both were for an employee’s beverage being stored in a container of ice used to make customers’ drinks. The restaurant also received five violations for general cleanliness issues.
Bageland and More (1420 Coral Ridge Drive) saw two high-priority violations during its inspection on Dec. 15. One was for raw salmon stored over unwashed cucumbers on the premises, and the other was because two damaged cans of apple sauce were kept with undamaged cans on a dry storage shelf. Both issues were corrected during the inspection. The location also received five low-priority violations.
In its first inspection since opening, Lao Hu Tong (2554 N. University Drive) was cited for two high-priority violations among its seven infractions — raw chicken improperly stored over raw beef in the restaurant’s walk in freezer and improper reheating of a roasted duck on Dec. 15.
