A $250 million pharmaceutical plant is coming to Coral Springs. What we know
Multinational pharmaceutical manufacturer Lupin announced plans on Wednesday, Oct. 8, to build a 70,000-square-foot drug manufacturing facility in Coral Springs .
In the next five years, the project is expected to add approximately 200 long-term skilled jobs to the local economy, according to a news release. Lupin will invest an estimated $250 million in infrastructure, equipment, and research and development, the release said.
The new facility will produce 25 different respiratory medicines, including generic albuterol inhalers used by those with asthma, a popular product in Lupin’s portfolio and one of several life-saving medications that have been subject to shortages in recent years, officials said.
Though a location for the facility has not been confirmed, a September report from the South Florida Business Journal pinpointed Lupin’s recent purchase at 12095 NW 39th St. as a likely contender.
The new facility is also a strategic step for the Naples-based company, which is aiming to strengthen its U.S. supply chain.
Lupin already has a presence in Coral Springs, as its Inhalation Research Center has been operating at 4006 NW 124th Ave. since 2015.
