The Florida Legislature opened its 2026 regular session Tuesday, Jan. 13, launching 60 days of lawmaking that will shape everything from the state budget to property taxes, schools, affordability, the use of artificial intelligence, transportation and housing — all issues that directly affect residents in Coral Springs.

Lawmakers from across Florida will gather in Tallahassee as the House and Senate begin debating hundreds of bills and finalizing spending priorities for the coming fiscal year.

For Coral Springs residents, the session is also a reminder that decisions made hundreds of miles away can have real consequences at home — and that maintaining home rule is important.
