Efforts to expand the Coral Springs Sportsplex are set to continue with a $1.5 million contract to Sports Facilities Development (SFD) to continue managing the project, including hiring architects, engineers and builders.

If approved by the Coral Springs City Commission on Wednesday, Jan. 21, it would bring the total cost to $1.8 million.

The commission first voted to work with SFD in 2024, when members agreed to pay the company to examine upgrade options.

Proposals have included an outdoor track with bleachers and locker rooms, a new gym with basketball courts and a surf park. However, the only specific contract in city records is replacing the surface of an indoor pool by Oak Wells Aquatics.

The property currently includes the Aquatics Complex, tennis courts, dog park, playground, jogging and walking trails and other amenities including events and teaching spaces.
