The health care sector is the second-largest employer in Coral Springs, according to DataUSA, a Deloitte-backed portal for government population data. -

But, new research indicates that increasing numbers of doctors, nurses, technicians and other workers are feeling burned out — and some reports indicate that over half are considering pursuing a different career because of it.

Work environments can play a major role — with some hospitals using innovative programs to try to meet employees’ needs.

In partnership with market research firm Statista, Forbes reporters surveyed over 17,000 employees who work in health and human services. They answered a variety of questions on experiences with current and past employers, and rated them based on criteria such as wages, working conditions, scheduling, career advancement opportunities and safety.

Holy Cross Health Fort Lauderdale ranked No. 110 among 250 companies named to the 2025 best employers for health care professionals list. The system also has a location on Sample Road in Coral Springs.

“We are deeply grateful for this recognition,” Pierre Monice, the company’s president and CEO, said in an Oct. 12 news release. “It reflects the steadfast commitment of our entire health care team and underscores our continued efforts to foster a workplace where every professional feels appreciated, supported and inspired to make a meaningful impact.”

Broward Health, the only other company in Broward County to make the list, ranked No. 195.

Health care and social services providers did not need to pay a fee to be considered for the list, but they did have to employ at least 1,000 people within the United States.
