An 18-year-old Coral Springs resident died as a result of injuries sustained in a Sunday, Oct. 26, car accident on Florida’s Turnpike, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Anthony Sahlin and two others were driving just north of Commercial Blvd. when their car struck a Tamarac Fire Rescue engine that had stopped to assist with a crash from earlier that morning, cops said.

Sahlin was transported to Broward General Medical Center and was pronounced dead at the hospital, according to FHP.

He is survived by his parents, Korey Lee and Ricky Sahlin, as well as two younger sisters.

The driver, a 20-year-old man from Coral Springs, and the other passenger, a 16-year-old from Parkland, in the 2021 Toyota Camry suffered serious injuries and were taken to a hospital, FHP said.

The Sahlin family announced in a Facebook post that an open viewing will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 1, at Coral Springs Funeral Home. The service will begin at 5 p.m.
