Coral Springs hospital earns ‘A’ grade from safety group. What sets it apart?
Hundreds of thousands of Americans suffer serious consequences every year because of preventable medical errors, such as infections contracted in a hospital or incorrect medication dosage.
An unknown number of patients — researchers disagree on the true number — die as a result.
Fortunately for residents, Broward Health Coral Springs has just earned the highest-possible grade for patient safety from the nonprofit Leapfrog Group.
The analysis uses 32 peer-reviewed national performance metrics, including hand hygiene and staffing practices.
“This recognition reflects the dedication of our caregivers, who consistently deliver safe and high-quality care to every patient,” said Kristen Bowman, CEO of Broward Health Coral Springs.
The hospital employs over 1,300 and is affiliated with more than 800 physicians.
On Tuesday, Nov. 18, the hospital system also highlighted Bowman, who was recognized by Becker’s Hospital Review this year as part of its list of “209 women hospital and health system presidents and CEOs to know.”
The article notes that Bowman, who took over as CEO in 2023, not only has helped the Broward Health location earn its “A” grade, but has also exceeded budget targets, expanded outpatient and robotic surgeries, and increased the hospital’s inpatient capacity from 250 to 278 beds.
