The former Heron Bay golf course clubhouse went up in flames during the early-morning hours of Dec. 27, sending massive columns of smoke into the air.

The Coral Springs-Parkland Fire Department received a call about an abandoned building that was on fire at about 4:13 a.m., agency spokesperson Ryan Himmel told the Coral Springs News.

The vacant building was fully engulfed when the first units arrived. The fire was extinguished after roughly an hour, but as of 9 a.m., the scene was still active and about 10 units were on site.

Though the roof collapsed, the rest of the structure was still standing after the fire was put out. No evacuations were ordered at the Marriott hotel next door, Himmel said, and no injuries were reported.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
