An argument over cheating in a relationship spiraled into a man pulling his pregnant girlfriend out of his car, then chasing after her as she ran for help, Coral Springs police said.

Darion Javarius Johnson, of Coral Springs, is now charged with aggravated domestic battery, offender knew or should have known victim was pregnant, Broward court records show.

The couple got into an argument over the phone at around midnight on March 29, and Johnson’s girlfriend told him she would walk to his house so they could continue their conversation, according to a probable cause affidavit filed by the Coral Springs Police Department.

Johnson met her along the way in his car and drove her back to his house, where they parked out front and continued arguing, the woman told police.

She recounted that Johnson eventually got out of the car, walked around to the passenger side and punched her in the mouth, according to the affidavit.

She said she hit him back, then he pulled her out of the car by her leg and poured liquor on her, investigators wrote. She got up and ran to the house, banging on the door for help, as Johnson is accused of following her and grabbing her phone from her hand, as well as pulling off her wig, according to police.

She said he threw her phone back at her, then she ran away from the house to call 911, losing her sandals in the process, according to the affidavit.

Investigators reported finding evidence supporting her account, including her sandals in the road, a bloody scrape on her leg and grass marks on her body. Two other residents of the home said they woke up to loud banging on the door, and when they went to see what was going on, they found a wig on the ground outside, according to police.

Outside the home, officers found Johnson, who had a mark on his lip. He told them he was arguing with his girlfriend in his car when she hit him in the mouth, then got out of the car and fell, leaving her with the scrape on her leg, according to the affidavit.

He told police he knew his girlfriend was pregnant with his child.

Coral Springs police found probable cause to arrest him, and he bonded out of Broward jail March 31, records show.
