Friends, family, colleagues and community members will have an opportunity to say their final goodbyes to Coral Springs vice mayor Nancy Metayer Bowen, who was allegedly murdered by her husband, Stephen Bowen, on April 1.

According to the City of Coral Springs and State Representative Marie Woodson, a celebration of Metayer’s life will take place on Friday, April 17, at Church by the Glades, at 400 Lakeview Drive.

Guests are asked to arrive by noon. The service will begin at 12:30 p.m.

“Nancy led with grace, conviction, and an unwavering belief in the power of community. She was a bright light in Coral Springs and a true champion for others,” Mayor Scott Brook wrote in a statement.

“Her impact on our city will be felt for generations, and her legacy of service and love for this community will never be forgotten.”

Attendees will be able to pay their final respects to Metayer as they exit after the service.

“The city encourages all who wish to honor Vice Mayor Metayer to do so, not only in remembrance, but also by carrying forward the values she embodied — uplifting others, making space at the table, serving with compassion, and working toward a more sustainable future,” the city’s statement says.
