A driver is suing the City of Coral Springs for over $100,000 over a crash reportedly involving a Coral Springs Police Department officer in Pompano Beach.

The driver is accusing the city of negligence and dangerous instrumentality, saying the officer was in his city-owned vehicle when he crashed into the other driver on West Sample Road on April 2, 2025.

The city does not comment on pending litigation, per policy.

The plaintiff filed the auto negligence lawsuit in Broward County on April 3 with LaBovick Law Group.

The driver said the officer didn’t obey traffic laws or look for traffic around him and collided with the plaintiff’s vehicle, causing “great bodily injury,” hospital bills, anguish and loss of enjoyment of life, according to the filing.

His attorney said the City of Coral Springs is vicariously liable because the city owned the officer’s vehicle and employed him at the time of the crash.

The Coral Springs News is working to obtain a copy of the crash report.
