Knight Center in Miami, where the Miami Herald and el Nuevo Herald recognized some of South Florida’s top high school seniors for academic achievement and community service.

The Silver Knight Awards were established in 1959 by former Miami Herald publisher John S. Knight and are considered one of the nation’s most prestigious student recognition programs.

This year, more than 940 students from Miami-Dade, Broward and Monroe counties were nominated.

Judges selected 30 winners and 90 honorable mentions across 15 categories.
