Rodent infestation halts food and drink sales at Coral Springs convenience store
The Citgo Food Mart on Coral Springs Drive and Royal Palm Boulevard will not be able to serve food or drinks until a weekslong rodent infestation documented by state health inspectors is resolved.
During a June 3 inspection of the convenience store at 10380 Royal Palm Blvd., officials said they found fresh rodent droppings in cabinets under fountain drink dispensers and the coffee bar, an issue that had been documented since its May 14 inspection.
Dead and recently caught rodents were also observed under back-room sinks.
A stop-use order was issued for the back section of the store, and the location was prohibited from receiving new food deliveries until the rodent problem is resolved, according to inspectors.
The report said an inspector would return on or about June 17.
Despite reminders and resources provided during the store’s May inspection, it did not have a certified food protection manager certificate, and the person in charge at the time was unable to correctly answer food safety questions, inspectors say.
Inspectors also noted several violations regarding sale of hemp and kratom products during the mid-May inspection, including improper age restriction signage and improper packaging.
The June 3 inspection report did not mention those issues, indicating that staff had resolved them.
