Five people were hospitalized after a car crashed into a tree on Riverside Drive on Wednesday, Coral Springs police said.

The crash happened at around 5:45 p.m. June 3, near the 5000 block of Riverside Drive.

A 2012 Toyota Camry was driving through a residential neighborhood just north of the intersection with Wiles Road when the driver lost control, spun, veered off the road and hit a tree.

One person in the backseat was thrown from the car, officers said.

Three occupants were taken to Broward Health North Medical Center, with one victim sustaining life-threatening injuries. The other two were transported to Broward Health Coral Springs Medical Center.

Police didn’t share what led to the driver losing control. The investigation is ongoing.
