A Coral Springs-based pharmaceutical company that distributes to over 40 states has been administratively charged in Iowa for allegedly failing to follow federal regulations.

This isn’t the first time CRE8 Pharmacy Group has been disciplined, according to reporting from the Iowa Capital Dispatch. The Coral Springs News reached out to CRE8 Pharmacy for comment on the latest charges but did not immediately receive a response June 12.

The Iowa Board of Pharmacy cited CRE8 Pharmacy on June 11 for reportedly failing to make sure compounded drugs, which are custom-made for a specific patient’s needs, adhere to federal standards intended to reduce the risk of potency errors, contamination and other issues.

The distributor was also cited for “failing to comply with the requirement that counseling be provided to every patient for a new or changed prescription prior to dispensing the prescription,” documents show.

Last year, CRE8 and the Ohio Board of Pharmacy settled a dispute regarding 41 prescriptions distributed to patients “for compounded drugs that lack USP/NF monograph, are not drug substances that are components of approved drugs and do not appear on the 503A bulk drug substances list.”

In that case, the company distributed Retatrutide, a weight-loss drug not approved by the Food and Drug Administration.

CRE8 Pharmacy agreed to pay $200,000 to resolve the issue and have its license reinstated there with a reprimand, but it did not admit wrongdoing.

In Louisiana, CRE8 Pharmacy was disciplined for dispensing roughly 376 prescriptions of products that “failed to conform to the minimal standards of acceptable pharmacy practice,” resulting in a $5,640 fine.

Records show the company hasn’t been disciplined in Florida.

The latest Iowa matter is scheduled to go before an administrative hearing Aug. 6.
