With summer break halfway through, back-to-school preparations are underway in Broward County.

One Broward official wants to make sure you step into it with style.

Commissioner Alexandra P. Davis will host a back-to-school shoe giveaway on Saturday, July 11, at the Southwest Focal Point Community Center in Pembroke Pines for students and families looking to be outfitted for the 2026-27 academic year.

“As we prepare for a new school year, we want to help our children step into the classroom feeling confident, supported and ready to succeed,” Davis said in a June 24 video announcing the drive.

The event will be cohosted by the Children’s Services Council of Broward County and shoes are provided by Soles 4 Souls, a Nashville, Tennessee-based nonprofit that distributes clothing items sourced from individuals, donation drives and retailers for communities in need.

One pair of new shoes is available for each child attending the event while supplies last, and children must be present to receive the donation.

To complete the look, school uniform assistance — courtesy of Broward County Public Schools support services — will be available, and a Memorial Healthcare mobile clinic will be on site to offer help with vaccines, physicals and more.

According to Davis, early birds will also leave with full bellies from a free food giveaway for the first 250 families at the shoe drive.

Register for the back-to-school event here. For more information, visit the Children’s Services Council of Broward County’s website.
