One of Coral Springs’ dozens of parks is scheduled to get a facelift this fall, according to a recently released project plan.

Jaycee Park, located at 4800 Riverside Dr., will have a new asphalt basketball court late fall, according to a request for proposals published by the city.

The park, which sits next to Red Lichen Sanctuary and the Whispering Woods neighborhood, includes a baseball field, tennis court, playground and pavilion, as well as paths for walkers, joggers and bikers.

According to the city’s request, the chosen contractor will demolish the existing basketball playing surface and foundation, and install a new asphalt court, striping and hoops as part of the estimated $140,000 project.

Bidders must submit their best offers by the end of July. Work would begin in September, according to city documents, and must be completed by the end of November.

The Jaycee Park basketball court appeared to be in playable condition on Wednesday, July 1, but some cracks were visible in the asphalt with weeds growing in a few locations.
