A hangout among teenagers led to one of them being shot and run over by a car after he was set up by two friends planning to rob him, according to authorities.

Now, two Coral Springs residents — 21-year-old Calvin Waldon Jr. and 17-year-old Victor Manuel Rivero III — face attempted first-degree murder and other felony charges, investigators say.

The victim told detectives that the night started with a FaceTime call in the early hours of April 24. He invited two longtime friends, including Easton Meza, 16, to sleep over at his home in Boca Raton, where he lived with his mother.

The two arrived about half an hour later in a black SUV, the victim said. He identified the other occupants as former friends: Rivero, the driver; Waldon in the passenger’s seat; and a third person in the back.

Once inside, the victim, Meza and the other longtime friend spent about an hour taking selfies with the victim’s rifles, records show.

Then, while getting snacks for the group, the victim heard someone running out of his front door and what sounded like a rifle hitting the doorframe, he told investigators.

After following the sound into the front yard, he discovered Meza had run out holding both of his rifles, and the other friend had Meza’s handgun, he told investigators.

The black SUV reappeared at the same time the two teens ran out and was heading down the street toward the home, the victim said. As the alleged thieves attempted to enter the vehicle, the victim stopped Meza and fought with him over the rifles. But as he was doing so, the SUV sped off with the victim hanging out of the rear passenger’s side door.

He told police that Waldon and Meza struck him in the face with their guns.

Then the victim said that he heard multiple people in the vehicle yelling “shoot him, shoot him, shoot him,” and alleged Waldon pointed a firearm at his head and fired, investigators wrote.

He ducked, but said the round struck him in the leg. He then fell out of the vehicle and was run over by a rear tire as it fled the scene, according to investigators.

He made it back to his home, where he called out for his mother., who dialed 911 around 3:30 a.m., records show.

First responders found the victim in the doorway of the home with a gunshot wound on his right inner thigh, a laceration on his head and “extensive” road rash. He arrived at Delray Medical Center in “serious” condition.

Investigators used neighbors’ security footage and additional physical evidence, including a green Visa debit card found at the scene with Waldon’s name on it, to corroborate the victim’s account, according to court documents.

Waldon was arrested on April 28 and was listed as a “rough arrest,” the term for when officers use force to detain an individual. He faces additional charges from a domestic violence battery incident that took place earlier that month.

Rivero and Meza were arrested on July 8.

All three are charged with attempted first-degree murder with a firearm, grand theft and armed burglary of an occupied dwelling, records show.
