Plant enthusiasts — green thumb or not — have a unique chance to shop and learn this weekend in Coral Springs as the Sawgrass Nature Center and Wildlife Hospital hosts the annual Orchid & Plant Festival.

The festivities will run from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 6, and Sunday, Dec. 7, with activities for all ages and vendors from around the state.

Orchids and other tropical plants are the main attraction, though booths will also have art, accessories, toys, and home and garden décor.

During the day, staff from the wildlife hospital will lead meet-and-greets with some of the animals under their care, including a bearded dragon and several snakes. There will also be a raffle with prizes from over 20 vendors.

“I’m so excited to watch the crowd come through and see them excited to see all the plants,” said Sandi Jones, owner of Broward Orchid Supply and the event’s coordinator. “People get to come out and have a wonderful day, make purchases, and benefit the nature center all at the same time.”

Children under 8 years old can attend for free. Those ages 9 and older must purchase a $6 ticket online or pay $8 at the door.

Free parking will be available at Sawgrass Springs Middle School, with a shuttle provided to transport attendees to the nature center.
