Over 10 kids’ camps and activities in Coral Springs still open this spring break

Scrambling for something to do with kids out of school on spring break?

Broward County Public Schools will be on spring break March 16-20. If you’re in need of some activity inspiration for your family, this list features camps with spots available until the first day of spring break, as well as free, self-guided experiences to fit interests and budget needs.

Camps

Triple Threat Basketball

Led by veteran South Florida coach Orlando McCorvey, this five-day camp teaches children ages 9 to 14 about how to master the game, from ball-handling to shooting and teamwork.

  • Days: March 16-20
  • Times: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Cost: $250 per child
  • Location: Forest Glen Middle School (6501 Turtle Run Blvd.)

Simply Soccer

Simply Soccer Camp staff, led by camp director Gary Curreri, will teach players aged 5 to 15 about the four core components of soccer.

  • Days: March 16-20
  • Times: Varies, depending on package chosen
  • Cost: $80-$170, depending on package chosen
  • Location: Veterans Hall in Mullins Park (2503 Coral Springs Dr.)

Players must bring their own soccer ball, snacks, lunch and water. Cleats are not mandatory. Full-day campers are also encouraged to bring a bathing suit and towel for optional swimming. Learn more and register on the Coral Springs Parks and Recreation website.

Tennis

This camp for beginners and intermediate players ages 5 to 16 aims to improve students’ strokes and gameplay.

  • Days: March 16-19
  • Times: 9 a.m. to noon
  • Cost: $175 for all four days or $50 per day
  • Location: Coral Springs Tennis Center (2575 Sportsplex Drive)

Campers should wear sunscreen and a hat, and bring water and a snack. Racquets will be provided for those who do not already have one. Learn more and register on the Coral Springs Parks and Recreation website.

Metal through the Ages

Students ages 7 to 17 can explore the edgier side of rock through this beginner-friendly series. Classes will examine “early proto metal groups like Deep Purple and Zeppelin, through the Big Four to the modern masters of the craft.” The students will then play in groups all week and write a song together to perform for a live audience on the final day of camp.

  • Times: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with option to add early dropoff and aftercare
  • Cost: $449
  • Location: School of Rock Coral Springs (7544 Wiles Road C-102)

Campers must bring their own lunch, snacks, water and ear plugs each day. Musicians and vocalists should also bring their own equipment, or plan to purchase it on the first day of camp. Learn more and register on the School of Rock website.

Camp WILD at Sawgrass Nature Center

Kids ages 6 to 12 are invited to learn about South Florida’s native flora and fauna from experts at the local wildlife education and rehabilitation center. The camp features hands-on experiences with ecology, conservation and natural history.

  • Days: March 16-20
  • Times: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with option to add early dropoff and aftercare
  • Cost: $225 for members, $250 for non-members; single days $70
  • Location: Sawgrass Nature Center (3000 Sportsplex Drive)

Campers must bring a reusable water bottle, snack, lunch and change of clothes. Sunscreen and bug spray are also highly recommended. Bluetooth headphones, phones, smart watches, tablets and gaming consoles is prohibited at the techology-free camp. Learn more and register on the Sawgrass Nature Center website.

Arts activities

The Coral Springs Museum of Art will be open to the public Tuesday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. All visits are free of charge. Current exhibits include “The Home Team,” a photo series documenting the Florida Panthers’ historic back-to-back Stanley Cup runs; ”Imitation of Life;” and the Superintendent’s Advanced Placement Studio Art Exhibition, which showcases outstanding works by local high school students.

Recreation options

Water park openings

Cypress Water Park’s first day of the season is set for March 14, meaning kids on spring break can be some of the first to enjoy its two-story slide, swimming pool, splash pad and playground.

The park will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. every day of the week. Entry for children and seniors costs $4.37, and adults pay $4.97.

Trampoline park discount

Altitude Coral Springs is running its spring break promotion March 13-22, with tickets set at $30 for two hours of play for two jumpers.

The Royal Duck bounce castle

The Royal Duck Castle is coming to the Coral Square Mall from March 14-22, promising “a one-of-a-kind inflatable adventure.” Built for both children and caregivers to enjoy, the giant inflatable slides, obstacle courses and bounce arenas encourage families to get active and create lasting memories.
