This weekend in Coral Springs, free outdoor activities take the lead as the city marks its first business expo, along with its annual community concert.

Plus, officials will celebrate the grand reopening of Turtle Run Park and Coconut Creek will host a dog-centered festival.

And, ahead of May 4, also known as Star Wars Day, community hubs such as the Northwest Regional Library and Guildhall Anime Game Lounge will host celebrations for fans of all ages.

Here’s what’s happening from Friday, May 1, through Sunday, May 3, in and around Coral Springs:

Friday

Turtle Run Park reopening celebration (10 a.m. to 1 p.m.)

Join city staff to celebrate the newly renovated basketball court and playground with a ribbon cutting, free refreshments and giveaways. Plus, get to know the city staff members who keep Coral Springs moving. Learn more on the city events page.

Coral Springs Community Concert and Business Expo (5:30 to 9:30 p.m.)

Enjoy a free concert on the City Hall lawn featuring Jamboree Latin Band and headliner FM Band Miami, plus roaming mariachi performers and interactive character entertainment. Food trucks, face painting, inflatable attractions, outdoor games, and arts and crafts for children will also be available. Coconut Creek Dog Expo (9 a.m. to noon)

Bring your furry friends — or just yourself — to Windmill Park and enjoy a morning dedicated to all things dogs. Learn more on the City of Coconut Creek website or on Meetup.

Bouquet-building class (10 a.m. to 1 p.m.)

Juice Kitchen Co. of Coral Springs and Kelsey Phinazee from The Shore Living Luxe Group will host a morning of flower arrangement ahead of Mother’s Day, with all supplies free with purchase of a drink or snack. Learn more on Facebook.

Star Wars Day at Northwest Regional Library (11 a.m. to 2 p.m.)

Join librarians in the Library Living Room for Star Wars-themed activities, including:

  • A Jedi Training Academy with fun challenges to complete
  • A library-wide search to intercept a secret message for the Rebel Alliance
  • Cosplay contests and trivia for kids and adults

Inaugural Rock ‘N Roll Pig Fest (noon to 9 p.m.)

Show off your car or bike and enjoy live music, award-winning barbecue and cold beer at the inaugural Pig Vicious BBQ celebration. Live music will start at 6 p.m., featuring Dave “The Beast” Spitz of Black Sabbath, according to event promotions. Learn more on Facebook.

Charles Deering: Artist, Collector, Patron, Preservationist (2 to 3 p.m.)

Star Wars Day demo with the South Florida Saber Legion (3 to 7 p.m.)
