Water and wildlife take center stage this Easter weekend in Coral Springs

Easter weekend has arrived in Coral Springs, as those of varying faiths celebrate spring’s arrival. With it comes water safety and wildlife education events, live music and more.

At the same time, the sudden and tragic loss of Vice Mayor Nancy Metayer Bowen has cast a long shadow of grief across the community. Friends and colleagues will host a candelight vigil to honor her contributions to the region. All are encouraged to attend.

Friday

Art therapy for veterans (10 to 11:30 a.m.)

The small group sessions center “solace, stress relief and community through creativity,” encouraging military veterans to discover new methods of emotional processing. No art skills or supplies are needed and registration is free. Learn more via the Coral Springs Museum of Art.

Candelight vigil honoring Vice Mayor Nancy Metayer Bowen (7 to 8:30 p.m.)

Officials are organizing a candelight vigil for Vice Mayor Nancy Metayer Bowen after her sudden death on April 1, which resulted in her husband being charged with premeditated murder and evidence tampering. April Pools Day (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.)
