Legendary comedian coming to Coral Springs to celebrate Juneteenth. Here are details
Rickey Smiley, the award-winning radio host known for his prank calls and fictional characters, is coming to Coral Springs to celebrate Juneteenth at the city’s Center for the Arts.
Smiley, who will be inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame in October, is best known for “The Rickey Smiley Morning Show,” a nationally syndicated program that features comedy, hip-hop, Black celebrity news and social topics.
He’s also known for on-screen appearances in his stand-up special “Fool-ish” and movies such as “All About the Benjamins,” “Friday After Next,” and “Baggage Claim.”
Recently, he has shared his journey as he grieves the loss of his oldest son, Brandon Smiley, who died in January 2023 at the age of 32 from a drug overdose.
It led him to write “Sideshow,” a book examining heartache and hope in the wake of loss as a Christian and a comedian.
Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets range from $48 to $117.
