As its final exhibition before moving to its new home in the Cornerstone complex in downtown Coral Springs, the city’s art museum will bring in a slate of artworks examining landscapes, placemaking and identity.

The Coral Springs Museum of Art will celebrate the nation’s 250th birthday and close out its time at the Center for the Arts with a double-feature exhibition June 5-Aug. 1, featuring massive prints of Everglades photographs by Clyde Butcher and contemporary multimedia works by various artists.

“Together, these exhibitions encourage visitors to reflect on the landscapes and environments that connect us,” Museum Director Juliana Forero said in a May 21 news release.

“Both exhibitions invite audiences to experience the land not only as scenery, but as something deeply tied to memory, community, and shared experience.”

Clyde Butcher: Lifeworks in Photography

The renowned landscape photographer will have his own exhibition at the museum, featuring 45 large-format prints from Butcher’s half-century-long career.

Known for his unique flair for capturing the intricacies, beauty and stillness of the Everglades, Butcher has been praised for his “meticulous” darkroom process and work in environmental conservation and humanitarian efforts.

Butcher’s adventures aren’t limited to Florida, as his work has taken him to Cuba, the Czech Republic and Spain.

In addition to the reception, there will be a lecture and book signing with Butcher from 4 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 13.

Tickets are available online at CoralSpringsMuseum.org/Clyde.

Across this Land: America at 250

To commemorate America’s 250th birthday, this collection of multimedia contemporary works explores landscapes, waterways, urban environments and other spaces that shape everyday life, collective memory and identity.

Using sensory elements, it is also intended to slow visitors down, allowing them to reconnect with the everyday spaces they may otherwise take for granted.
