Jalsa Indian Modern Kitchen has opened in Coral Springs, one of two Indian restaurants to open in the city in March.

The restaurant, located at the southwest corner of University Drive and Royal Palm Boulevard, announced its soft opening March 5.

The spot replaced another Indian eatery, Honest Indian Vegetarian Restaurant, at 2238 N. University Drive.

The Jalsa restaurant menu features vegetarian options including veggie samosas, palak paneer, the chickpea curry dish chana masala and lentil-based dal makhni.

Meat and seafood eaters will also find chicken tandoori, lamb curry, goat tikka masala and the “signature seafood butter masala” dishes, starring lobster, salmon, fish or shrimp.

The owners have revamped the interior since Honest Indian closed, setting the intention that the restaurant not only serves takeout, but also is a dine-in destination.

If you continue south on University Drive for less than 2 miles, you’ll encounter another Indian restaurant, Harmony Indian Cuisine, which opened about two weeks later.
