The Coral Springs-Parkland Fire Department might get a set of wheels if it gets approval for the $1.3 million purchase of three new rescue vehicles.
The public works department is requesting Coral Springs commissioners award a contract to Matheny Motor Truck Co. at the Wednesday, Dec. 17, City Commission meeting.
The fire department received funding to buy three new EMS vehicles through the city’s capital improvement program, then compared manufacturing vendors available through the Florida Sheriffs Association Bid.
The department is specifically looking to obtain Wheeled Coach vehicles, which look like ambulances that also carry firefighting staff and equipment.
Matheny Motor Truck Co., based in Ocala, reportedly came in with the lowest bid among all the solicited vendors by $75,000 and will also have a short build time, with a repair center in the South Florida area, according to a city memo.
The company “has an extensive parts inventory and can ship orders out within 24 hours of placement. Matheny Motor Truck Co.’s warranty includes a lifetime warranty on the modular body, electrical system and cabinet construction,” city documents say.
The City Commission meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. and will be livestreamed for those who cannot attend in-person.
