A 65-year-old woman died Sunday, Oct. 12, after a hit-and-run car accident left her in critical condition, according to the Coral Springs Police Department.

Debra Indar was a passenger in a Toyota Corolla on Friday morning — her 65th birthday — when a Chevrolet Impala struck the vehicle at approximately 5:22 a.m. at the intersection of Sample Road and Woodside Drive, police said.

The damage was so severe that police shut down multiple lanes of Sample Road for hours as they worked to document and clean up the scene, the Coral Springs News reported.

Indar died Sunday at Broward Health North hospital, police said.

A Coral Springs Police Department spokesperson also said the Impala driver fled the scene on foot.

No arrests have been announced as of Oct. 14, and police have not released the names of any persons of interest.

Anyone with information regarding the case is encouraged to contact Coral Springs Police Officer Xavier Reinoso by calling 954-346-1269 or emailing xreinoso@coralsprings.gov.
