Recent social media posts flagged an active police operation near Tap 42, a bar and restaurant in downtown Coral Springs. With speculations flying on the cause, the Coral Springs News looked into the incident. Here’s what we found.

According to a Coral Springs Police Department spokesperson, at approximately 9:18 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 26, police responded to the area of 2800 Forest Hills Boulevard to investigate a shooting. The location is about three-quarters of a mile from Tap 42, or a roughly three-minute drive.

Officers determined that an adult male had fired multiple shots into the air, then fled into a nearby apartment. The man was later apprehended, with no injuries or property damage reported.

According to available public safety data, homicide rates are down in Coral Springs this year, as are rates of other violent crimes.

Friday morning’s incident remains under investigation, and anyone with additional information is urged to contact the Coral Springs Police Department at 954-344-1800.
