Coral Springs accessible playground renovations to be completed in new year
Coral Springs residents will see a new and improved Pride Promoters Park in the new year, as upgrades are set to finish in the first couple months of 2026.
City officials expect the enhancements to Pride Promoters Park, near the corner of Riverside Drive and Wiles Road, to be completed by February. The improvemens include a “modern, accessible ” playground, outdoor fitness equipment for all ages and an ADA-compliant basketball court.
Officials budgeted $345,000 for park modernization, signing a contract with Fort Myers-based Playmore West in April 2025. The majority of the sum — $225,000 — will come from federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) resources.
According to the Department of Housing and Urban Development, the CDBG program aims to help cities, counties and states “develop viable urban communities by providing decent housing and a suitable living environment, and by expanding economic opportunities, principally for low- and moderate-income persons.”
Other projects funded through this grant include wastewater treatment in rural South Carolina, a medical respite center for homeless adults in Illinois and a co-op grocery store in a North Carolina food desert.
The Pride Promoters Park upgrade will also include an installation by internationally-acclaimed duo Gillie and Marc, whose bronze animal sculptures made them some of the most recognizable public artists in the nation.
The most recent renderings of “Wild Connections” features five species of native Florida wildlife — an eagle, panther, bobcat, turtle and rabbit — seated together on a bench.
The Gillie and Marc sculpture, which the city purchased for $120,000, was funded separately through the city’s Public Art Fund.
The park was first built in the early 1990s.
