Traveling Holocaust exhibit with WWII-era artifacts stopping in Coral Springs
A Holocaust history exhibit featuring artifacts from World War II is coming to Coral Springs.
“The Hate Ends Now: Cattle Car Exhibit” is bringing a WWII-era replica cattle car and a collection of authentic historical items to City Hall on Friday, Jan. 30, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
“During the Holocaust, cattle cars were used to transport Jews and other targeted groups to concentration and death camps,” according to a Jan. 6 news release from the City of Coral Springs. “The replica cattle car features a 360-degree, immersive 20-minute presentation that educates participants about the Holocaust and the dangers of antisemitism and racism.”
The Multicultural Committee proposed the idea last year, and now it’s coming to fruition, according to Vice Mayor Nancy Metayer Bowen.
“As Commission Liaison, this reflects our shared commitment to ensuring Coral Springs is inclusive and welcoming to all,” Bowen said. “This exhibit challenges us to reflect on history while reminding us of our responsibility to build a more compassionate future — and reinforces our dedication to education and standing firmly against hate.”
The exhibit will also include 25 original artifacts from the Holocaust, ranging from currency used in a ghetto to a prisoner uniform, ID cards and shoes.
Docent educators will guide visitors through a tour of the artifact exhibit.
“We are committed to encouraging people to reflect on the depths of evil while inspiring thoughtful conversations about genocide and indifference as they participate in The Cattle Car exhibit,” according to the organization.
While the exhibit is free to attend, there’s limited space, so advanced registration is required. You can sign up here.
