A teen riding an electric motorbike suffered life-threatening injuries in a Jan. 19 crash in Coral Springs, according to police.

The collision happened around 9:15 p.m. on Monday at the entrance of the Atlantic Crossings Plaza, the Coral Springs Police Department said.

A teenage boy was riding an Ultra Bee e-moto south on University Drive when a man driving a 2025 Toyota Corolla heading north turned left into the plaza, police said.

The two collided, and the teen sustained life-threatening injuries, according to police. The preliminary investigation indicated he wasn’t wearing a helmet at the time.

Coral Springs fire rescue responded, and the teen was rushed to Broward General Hospital for medical treatment.

Investigators are still reviewing surveillance footage and piecing together witness statements. It’s unclear whether the motorbike was street legal, but the Ultra Bee model can reach a top speed of over 50 miles per hour.
