Lottery ticket worth nearly $55K sold at Publix near Coral Springs. Whose is it?
Check your tickets. A trip to a grocery store close to Coral Springs turned into a jackpot lottery win of more than $50,000.
The winner bought their Fantasy 5 ticket at the Publix Super Market at Coconut Creek Plaza at 4849 Coconut Creek Parkway, near the intersection with Lyons Road, according to Florida Lottery records.
The player chose their own combination of numbers ranging from 1 to 36 and hit the top prize of $54,262 in the Tuesday, Feb. 10, evening drawing. The winning numbers were 12-14-27-29-33.
But the prize would have been bigger if not for a Publix shopper in Hialeah, according to lottery officials.
The jackpot was split two ways when a second Fantasy 5 player had the computer terminal in a Miami Publix randomly generate their numbers, then that person hit the same lucky combination.
Each player beat the 1-in-376,992 odds of matching all five numbers.
Winners have 180 days from the drawing to cash in their prizes. The nearest Florida Lottery office where the two lucky winners can claim their windfalls is 14621 Oak Lane in Miami Lakes.
