Coral Springs residents can help clean Stranahan River at annual Broward event
Get outside and give back to the community as Coral Springs residents join conservationists on Saturday, March 7, for the 49th annual Broward County Waterway Cleanup.
Heralded as the county’s “largest and longest-running environmental event,” the effort spans over 30 sites and removes over 20 tons of litter from the county’s waterways every spring.
The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Riverside Park, according to the city’s events page.
Volunteers will meet at the boat ramp before heading along the Stranahan River via foot and watercraft, removing garbage and other litter as they pass through.
Registration is encouraged, but not required. Cleanup supplies and event T-shirts have been provided in past years.
Later that afternoon, volunteers are also invited to attend the Trash Bash, a celebration with food, drinks, music, raffles and the announcement of the Marine Industries Association of South Florida scholarship winners. The location hasn’t been announced as of March 2.
