71-year-old pedestrian hit by pickup on University Drive, Coral Springs cops say

A 71-year-old man was crossing a street when he was struck by a pickup truck in Coral Springs, police said.

The crash happened at around 2:08 p.m. on Tuesday, March 17, on University Drive and NW 20th Street, just south of the intersection at Royal Palm Boulevard, according to police.

A pedestrian was walking across the street in a crosswalk when a vehicle hit him. It’s unclear who had the right of way at the time. No one was in custody as of the afternoon of March 17.

The victim was rushed to Broward Health North with critical injuries, but he’s in stable condition, according to police.

The accident closed the northbound lanes of University Drive at the intersection for about two hours, then the road was re-opened by 4:15 p.m.

The investigation is ongoing.
