Man accused of biting off part of brother-in-law’s lip arrested in Coral Springs
A man who said he was defending his sister reportedly got violent with his brother-in-law and bit off part of his lip during a fight, Coral Springs police said.
Jean Limage, 53, of Coral Springs, is charged with domestic battery by strangulation and domestic battery causing great bodily harm or disfigurement, Broward County court records show.
The victim and his wife, who is Limage’s sister, reportedly got into an argument at their home in Coral Springs the evening of June 8, according to Limage’s arrest affidavit.
The victim said he got into an argument with his wife, and during the altercation, Limage grabbed him from behind and placed him in a chokehold, then hit him twice in the back of the head and once on the side of his face, police wrote.
One of the couple’s children told officers, “I saw my uncle beating up my dad,” according to the affidavit.
The victim said once Limage realized the kids were calling police, Limage bit him in the “upper lip, tearing a chunk off,” officers wrote.
When police arrived, an officer noted his “mouth was covered in blood,” and he had “a severe laceration on the top left corner of his upper lip,” the affidavit says.
The victim was transported to Broward Health Coral Springs, where a doctor reportedly told him he would need plastic surgery for his injuries.
Police showed up to Limage’s workplace on June 13. He told officers his sister had called him repeatedly the day of the incident, so he went to her house and ended up hitting his brother-in-law in self-defense. He denied biting him.
