A motorcyclist who died in a crash on Wiles Road and Coral Ridge Drive last week reportedly failed to stop at a red light before colliding with another vehicle, investigators said.

Coral Springs police have now identified the motorcyclist as 34-year-old Daniel Beas Gamez.

Beas Gamez was heading north on Coral Ridge Drive at around 1:44 p.m. on Thursday, June 18, when officers said he ran a red light at the intersection with Wiles Road.

Another vehicle was turning left onto Wiles Road from Coral Ridge Drive, and Beas Gamez hit the passenger side, according to police. He died at the scene, as the crash shut down the intersection for hours.

No other individuals were hospitalized in the accident. The investigation remains ongoing.
