A woman has been arrested months after a toddler reportedly ingested fentanyl in Coral Springs, police said.

Donnaca Denson, 24, of Daytona Beach, is charged with child neglect without great bodily harm stemming from a December incident, according to Broward County court records.

Denson is described as the girl’s “caregiver” in court documents, with their relationship not further specified.

The then-2-year-old girl in Denson’s care reportedly ingested fentanyl on Dec. 12, rendering her “unresponsive,” according to an arrest warrant. Authorities wrote the incident didn’t “cause great bodily harm, permanent disability or permanent disfigurement.”

Records show Denson had recently been involved in a Broward civil case in which extended family petitioned the court for temporary custody. It’s unclear whether the same child was involved, but the case was settled or otherwise dismissed after a June 25 hearing.

The Coral Springs News is working to learn more about the December incident.

Records show Denson was taken into custody at the Coral Springs police station June 24 and has since bonded out.
