A woman is accused of smashing a glass bottle on her boyfriend during an argument, injuring him to the point he needed a tourniquet and was hospitalized, Coral Springs police said.

Jazmin Miranda, 38, is now charged with aggravated domestic battery causing bodily harm and domestic violence battery, Broward County court records show.

Miranda told police that she got back to the apartment she shares with her boyfriend of seven years shortly after midnight on June 26. But as she arrived, she fell off a motorcycle, which damaged the bike and irritated her boyfriend, according to the probable cause affidavit.

The couple went inside and began arguing, and Miranda said they fell to the floor and began hitting each other, police wrote. That’s when Miranda said she hit her boyfriend with a glass alcohol bottle that was broken, creating a deep cut on his tricep, according to investigators.

The boyfriend left the apartment, but not long after, officers pulled him over and saw his injury was severe enough they needed to apply a tourniquet, the affidavit says. Emergency medical personnel responded to the scene before he was taken to Broward Health Coral Springs.

Officers said Miranda “spontaneously uttered that multiple bite marks and other lacerations would be observed on the victim.” Police didn’t notice any injuries on Miranda.

Her boyfriend declined to provide a sworn statement, but based on his injuries and Miranda’s account, police arrested her.

Records show she’s since bonded out of jail.
