Coral Springs students make state exam gains, earning schools A and B grades
The numbers are in — and Coral Springs students have shown what they’re capable of.
Nearly all public and charter schools serving the city achieved an A ranking during the most recent school year, according to data published by the Florida Department of Education.
Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland was ranked the best local option. One of the other high scorers that serves Coral Springs, although also not within city limits, was Pompano Beach High School, a college-prep magnet school considered to be among the best in South Florida. It beat Stoneman Douglas by three points.
Westglades Middle and Maplewood Elementary scored the highest in their respective age groups, while Coral Springs and Ramblewood Middle tied for the best-ranked middle schools within city limits.
Coral Springs Charter School, which serves both middle and high schoolers, also achieved top marks.
The grades are calculated using a variety of statistics, including standardized test scores, graduation rates and students’ improvement from one year to the next.
State data also included test results from as far back as 1999.
Among the most-improved schools was James S. Hunt Elementary School, which has climbed a full letter grade every year since 2024.
Educators there serve a disproportionately high number of economically disadvantaged children — nearly 90% of all students fall into the category, according to the state report. That’s the most of any other public school serving Coral Springs.
