A fight that seemingly had been broken up apparently wasn’t over after witnesses said one man armed himself and threatened to kill his girlfriend’s ex-husband in Coral Springs, records show.

Omar Dumet, 33, of Tamarac, is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill following the July 2 altercation.

The victim told Coral Springs police that he got into a fight with his ex-wife’s current boyfriend, Dumet, in the parking lot outside the victim’s home, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Multiple people intervened to separate them, and the victim said after everyone was settled down, Dumet walked to his car and grabbed a handgun, police wrote.

Dumet is then accused of walking over to the victim and yelling, “Next time I’m going to kill you,” according to the affidavit.

The victim’s mother and another witness told police that after the physical fight ended between the two men, they saw Dumet go to his car and grab a firearm while yelling at the victim, officers said. The victim’s mom said she was afraid Dumet would open fire.

Police took Dumet into custody, and he told them he didn’t remember what happened after the fight ended but said he keeps a gun in his glove compartment, where police then found it, the affidavit says.

Dumet was booked in Broward jail.
