Coral Springs office manager embezzles $180K from construction company, cops say
A Coral Springs woman who worked as an office manager at a construction company is accused of embezzling over $180,000 from her employer for herself and her boyfriend, records show.
Sandrama Permaul, 43, and Oral Ollivierre, 39, are both charged with first-degree grand theft in connection with the alleged scheme to defraud a Hallandale Beach-based construction company where Permaul worked, according to police. Court records indicate they live in an apartment together in Coral Springs.
Their attorneys declined to comment to the Coral Springs News on July 13, citing they were still looking into the matter. The construction company did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The owner of the construction company told Hallandale Beach police that after he hired Permaul in 2017, she worked her way up to office manager, becoming the sole person responsible for paying employees, vendors and bills, according to a probable cause affidavit.
Bank records starting in 2022 show Permaul writing checks to herself and withdrawing cash from two business accounts, beyond her salary of roughly $64,700, investigators said.
Between the checks and cash withdrawals, Permaul is accused of stealing about $158,052 from the company for herself. She reportedly used some of her employer’s money to pay her utility bills as well, according to police.
Investigators said it didn’t end there, and that Permaul stole another $21,490 by writing about seven checks issued to her boyfriend, Ollivierre, who never worked for the company. The total amount the business owner lost was about $180,278, according to the affidavit.
Coral Springs officers arrested the couple July 7, and they both remain in jail as of July 13 on Nebbia holds, which is an added requirement that detainees prove the money used to post bond doesn’t come from fraudulent sources.
