As the city transitions from Thanksgiving to winter holidays such as Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and Christmas, opportunities to learn, create and celebrate are abundant.

Activities range from world champion-led tango lessons to a chat with a TV producer-turned-author available for residents and visitors alike.

Local businesses are also taking opportunities this week to celebrate new eateries, major anniversaries and raise money for charity — with free food and giveaways for all to enjoy.

Here’s what’s happening around town from Tuesday, Dec. 2, through Thursday, Dec. 4:

Tuesday

Senior health and wellness talk with Vice Mayor Nancy Metayer Bowen (10 to 11:30 a.m.)

Learn how to access resources on food insecurity, health care needs and other support services to help seniors in Coral Springs. Snacks will be provided. Learn more on the city’s events website.

Author Talk: Scheming Wives & High-Stakes Hilarity with Sue Hincenbergs (2 to 3 p.m.)

The Broward County Libraries’ Speaker Consortium continues as former TV producer Sue Hincenbergs discusses her debut novel, “The Retirement Plan.” The story centers three women who concoct a scheme to collect on their husbands’ life insurance policies to secure their dream beachside retirement home together.

Emo karaoke (8 p.m.)

Wednesday

Jeff’s Bagel Run soft opening (6:30 a.m.)

Jeff and Danielle Perera founded their New York-style bagelry during the pandemic and now have over 10 locations across Florida and surrounding states. Now, their “always-boiled, never toasted” bagels are coming to Coconut Creek.

During the soft opening on Wednesday and Thursday, all visitors will receive a free bagel and spread. The restaurant’s grand opening will take place on Friday at 6 a.m. Learn more on Facebook.

Upside-Down brunch and “Stranger Things” trivia (6 p.m.)

Enjoy retro-style breakfast for dinner and themed trivia and karaoke to celebrate the fifth season of Netflix’s hit drama at World of Beer in Coconut Creek. Learn more on Facebook.

Coral Springs City Commission meeting (6:30 to 9 p.m.)

The City Commission meets this week to discuss city business, including the new Coral Springs Museum of Art building and how departments are spending taxpayer money. Learn more on the city’s website.

Coral Springs women’s book club meeting (7 to 9 p.m.)

Local book lovers are set to reunite in town this week for a white elephant book exchange and ugly sweater party. Organizers ask that attendees also bring a potluck item. Learn more and RSVP on Meetup.

Tango lessons and open dance (7 to 11:30 p.m.)

Join the Goldcoast Ballroom for its final monthly dance workshop and social of the year. Anyone who is new to the Argentine tango can join an expert-led class from 7 to 8 p.m. Then, all are invited to join on the dance floor for the rest of the evening. Food and drink will also be available for purchase.

Thursday

Expert Car Care anniversary celebration (3 to 7 p.m.)

Head to 10820 Wiles Road for a ribbon cutting ceremony and block party to celebrate Expert Car Care Coral Springs’ fifth birthday. The festive evening will include a live DJ, free food, drinks from Pompano Beach Brewing and surprise giveaways. Learn more on Facebook.
