As the holiday season approaches, Coral Springs and the surrounding cities are offering even more opportunities to celebrate and shop — no matter your budget or interests.
Whether you’re looking for cozy, wintry vibes or the intensity and vibrance of a mid-summer carnival, there’s something for everyone this weekend in Coral Springs.

Coral Springs Orchidfest
Celebrate the orchid’s beauty and variation at the Sawgrass Nature Center and Wildlife Hospital with live animal meet-and-greets and a wide variety of vendors to explore. Festivities will run from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Learn more here.
The Margate Fair
Get your fill of carnival rides, games, shows and snacks at the final weekend of one of the biggest fairs in Broward County. Hours vary depending on the day, and special deals are available depending on tickets chosen.

Friday, Dec. 5
Elf The Musical Jr. (7 p.m.)
Celebrate the holidays with Somerset Parkland Academy’s fifth annual holiday show at the Coral Springs Center for the Arts, where fourth through eighth grade performers bring the magic, laughter and heart of Buddy the Elf to life on stage.

Disco in December (6 to 9 p.m.)
Head to Coconut Creek’s City Hall courtyard for an evening of disco, food and fun. Arrive at 6 p.m. to learn new dance moves with Melendrez Dance Studios and enjoy on-site vendors. Then, from 7 to 9 p.m., let loose with the Original Studio 54 Band.

Kids Night Out (5:30 to 8:30 p.m.)
Parkland’s Department of Parks and Recreation is hosting a night of winter wonderland activities for children between kindergarten and fifth grade .
The evening will include a pizza dinner, plus hot cocoa, popcorn, a holiday movie and a pajama party. Tickets cost $30 for residents and $36 for non-residents. Learn more and register online here.
Saturday, Dec. 6
Coral Springs Light Up the Lawn (5 to 9 p.m.)
Celebrate the official start of the holiday season in Coral Springs with a traditional tree lighting ceremony, plus train rides, a snow zone, stuffed animal giveaway and free cookies.

Sunday, Dec. 7
14th Annual Walk-Off for Cancer 5k (7:30 a.m.)
Run or walk for a cause to finish off the weekend with former Chicago Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo to raise funds for cancer research and to provide direct support to children and families navigating the disease. The event includes both competitive and casual options, plus a complimentary Kid Zone presented by i9 Sports, free breakfast and coffee, and a gift bag for all participants.

Parkland and Tamarac farmers’ markets
Head to the Parkland Equestrian Center for a farmers’ and crafters’ market that brings local vendors together ahead of the holiday season. Shoppers will be able to purchase items such as fresh and organic vegetables, fruits, herbs, flowers and baked goods, as well as gourmet jam, honey, dips, sauces, fresh pasta, cheese and pickles. Activities for children and live entertainment are also frequently featured. The market runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The weekly Tamarac farmers’ market (9 a.m. to 2 p.m.), located inside Veterans’ Memorial Park, features a similar range of local products, such as fresh produce, tea, honey, sauces, baked goods, hummus, pickles and other treats .
“The Heroes of the Massacre River” screening (6 p.m.)
Head to the Coral Springs Center for the Arts to participate in a watch party and conversation centered on “The Heroes of the Massacre River,” a documentary that captures Haitians’ stories around the building of the Wanament Canal. The irrigation project, which heightened tensions between the nation and its neighbors in the Dominican Republic, became a defining moment in Caribbean history.
Dr. Bertrhude Albert, one of the leading voices in the film, will lead a conversation on what this movement means for Haitians’ future following the screening. Tickets are free, but space is limited. Learn more and register on Eventbrite here.
