Opportunities for hobbyists and those looking to try something new are widespread this week in Coral Springs, from learning how to use a 3D printer to chess and fitness.

Plus, learn and give back with events such as the UFAR Animals Rescue charity dinner and the Coral Springs e-bike safety town hall.

Monday

3D printing open house (6 to 7 p.m.)

Learn the basics of 3D printing in this monthly Northwest Regional Library Creation Station open house. Learn more on the library events page.

Animal rescue charity dinner (5:30 to 8:30 p.m.)

Enjoy buffet-style food, a series of auctions and more at this fundraiser benefiting UFAR Animals Rescue, located just south of Coral Springs. El Mariachi is set to host and provide one complimentary drink per ticket-holder. Tickets are on sale for $35 in advance or $50 at the door. Learn more on Facebook.

E-bike town hall (6 to 8 p.m.)

Coral Springs is facing a documented increase in crashes involving youth on e-bikes and electric scooters, some resulting in life-threatening injuries. In response, law enforcement officials are hosting a “safety-focused, solution-oriented discussion centered on prevention and parental awareness” at City Hall. Learn more on the city event page.

Commission meeting (9 to 11 a.m.)

The City Commission will discuss local matters, issue proclamations, and confirm changes to contracts and city regulations. This meeting will include second readings of several bills, including those regarding flex zoning and roof painting. Learn more online.

Intensive ACT prep (5:30 to 7:30 p.m.)

In this five-part series, students will practice test sections and intensive test-taking strategies, focusing on four components per subject: fundamentals, technique, recognition/reaction and timing manipulation. Learn more and register to attend on the Northwest Regional Library events page.

Open play chess (6 to 8 p.m.)

All skill levels are welcome at this Coral Springs Gymnasium event, featuring open play sessions and instruction from a qualified National Scholastic Chess Foundation coach. Pre-registration is not required, but those interested can visit the city website to learn more.

Smithsonian Curator Emerita Valerie Neal interviewed many of the U.S. women astronauts to bring their experiences to life in her new book “On a Mission.” In this library speakers session, learn about those women and their epic journeys to made space for themselves in a male-dominated field.
