After the holiday weekend slowdown, Coral Springs is back in action with plenty of events and activities for all ages.

Interested in learning more about your family history? The county library system is offering a free documentary screening and introduction to genealogy.

Or, if you’re just looking to keep the party going after Fourth of July, enjoy live music at various locations in and around Coral Springs.

Plus, pick up useful skills from self-defense to outdoor safety and zero-waste strategies with workshops around town.

Monday

Historical bus tour (10 a.m. to noon)

Head to the Coral Springs History Museum for an expert-led tour, where residents and visitors can learn about the city’s early development, planning, traditions and the people who helped shape the communities of the past, present and future. Learn more on the Coral Springs city events page.

All-time greatest hits of American folk music (10:30 to 11:30 a.m.)

Floridians guide to hiking in the mountains or the desert (2:30 to 3:30 p.m.)

Headed to another climate for an active vacation? Get all the information you need to stay safe, wherever your adventures take you with this online, librarian-led talk. Learn more on the library events page.

Help your teen get college ready (4:30 to 5:30 p.m.)

The Scholarship Plug’s ongoing series with the local library system continues with this session, which aims to educate parents and caregivers about university applications, financial aid options and other facets of getting high schoolers into college. Unearth a story documentary film screening and discussion (11 a.m. to 1 p.m.)

Introduction to genealogy (2:30 to 3:30 p.m.)

This expert-led online event gives Broward Library patrons the building blocks for researching their family history, with tips, tricks and a variety of free resources. Learn more and register on the library events page.

Prehistoric ice cream adventure (10:30 to 11:30 a.m.)

Celebrate National Ice Cream Month with dinosaur-themed STEAM activities and sweet treats for kids ages 5 and older. Costumes are encouraged. Learn more on the Northwest Regional Library events page.

Perler bead crafting workshop (11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.)

Creatives of all ages can head to the Northwest Regional Library to experiment with Perler plastic fusible beads. Try your hand at a keychain, wall decoration or something entirely new. Registration is required, as supplies are limited. Learn more on the library events page.

R.A.D. self-defense class (6 to 8 p.m.)

The Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) System uses realistic situations and skill repetition to teach girls and women ages 13 and older how to fend off potential attackers. The Coral Springs Police Department offers the course through four weekly classes, with no prior experience required. The enrollment fee is $25. Learn more on the city events page.

Broward Sierra Club: Why zero waste? (6:30 to 8:30 p.m.)

Richard Ramcharitar of Broward Clean Air is the featured presenter for the conservation group’s monthly meeting, which will include a Q&A, prizes and snacks. Learn more and register to attend in person or online via Meetup.
