This weekend in Coral Springs, health and wellness take center stage as the city celebrates Mother’s Day.

Events at the Northwest Regional Library and Coral Springs Museum of Art provide collaborative ways to create lasting memories for parents and kids alike. Or learn new ways to nourish your brain and body with the third annual Mind, Body and Soul Summit.

Mother’s Day run and brunch fundraiser (6:30 a.m.)

Head to Runner’s Depot for a 6-mile run, with freebies, raffles, refreshments and massages to celebrate moms this weekend. Tickets cost $10 per person, with all proceeds benefiting Eagles’ Haven. Learn more and reserve your spot online.

Compost workshops (10 to 11:30 a.m.)

Coral Springs’ Office of Sustainability invites residents, regardless of age or experience, to learn from master gardeners as they demonstrate different methods for composting at home and in the garden. All participants will receive a free kitchen-top compost bin.

Mother’s Day memory box workshop (10 a.m. to noon)

Parent-child teams can head to the Coral Springs Museum of Art to hand-build and decorate their own clay keepsake boxes, led by teaching artist Jennifer La Cava. Tickets per pair cost $30 for nonmembers and $20 for members.

Mind, Body and Soul Summit (10 a.m. to 3 p.m.)

Now in its third year, this event is aimed at breaking stigma and raising funds that expand access to mental health care. Learn more on Facebook and get free tickets on Eventbrite for the event at Coral Springs Charter School. The Mental Wellness Networking Alliance is organizing the summit in collaboration with Mayor Scott Brook.

Make your own Mother’s Day cards (2 to 3 p.m.)

Participants can make Mother’s Day cards using the Silhouette Cameo 3 paper cutter machine at the Northwest Regional Library. Materials are provided, but customers may bring their own materials for use.

Uncorked Paint ‘n Sip, Clay Dates (5 to 7 p.m.)

Explore your creativity with double-feature events from the Coral Springs Museum of Art:

  • Uncorked Paint ‘n Sip returns with a guided class on Frank Weston Benson’s “Herons and Lillies,” a 1934 painting inspired by the artist’s memory of herons from his trip to the Florida Keys.
  • Clay Dates allow individuals and duos to experiment with ceramics and make their own handmade clay pottery or sculpture from scratch. May’s project is a charcuterie board.

Fairy Tale Classics by the International Ballet Company (various times)

Check out performances by students at the local ballet school, following classic stories from centuries past. Showtimes are at noon ($37) and 6 p.m. ($47). Learn more and purchase tickets on the Coral Springs Center for the Arts webpage.

Patrick Brown’s ‘Indecent Proposal’ (6 p.m.)

The Jambiz Crew from Jamaica, led by Glen “Titus” Campbell, returns to South Florida for their annual Mother’s Day comedic theatrical performance. Available tickets range from $85 to $96. Learn more on the Coral Springs Center for the Arts ticketing page or on Facebook.
